Incident Commander Type 3 - Time-Pressure Simulation Assessment US Forest Service requires successful completion of this simulation assessment as a prerequisite to qualification. ICT3 candidates should go to this page on the National Fire Training web site. Study the materials there. All the evaluation criteria are given - there are no surprises, as long as you do the following. Your challenge is to take each of those criteria and think it through as to what that means on the fire ground. What action(s) do you take in a real situation that fulfill this task? For instance "Establishes presence as IC". How is that done? It probably consists of communication with dispatch and assigned resources that you have taken command of the incident. Go through that kind of exercise with each of the evaluation criteria to prepare for the assessment. The assessment will be given utilizing a sandtable or other simulated representation of the area.
